her last moment.

The green grassy plains suddenly seem so far away. The white dandelions that she loved fell from her grasp. She only had a few moments to blink and realize that she is slipping under. She knew she would never resurface again, to smell the sweet-scented air and feel the rain against her skin. For the last time, oxygen entered her lungs, and then she was completely under. The water is overwhelming, blurring her sight. Her frock no longer an azure, it is drenched in what seemed like forbidden waters, staining it forever. She held her breath, held on to the only thing that connects her to the world. She fought against the current with whatever strength that may be left in that frail body. Her arms reached, her legs kicked, but to no avail. The tugging force was too much for her. With her last bit of oxygen gone, she inhaled gulps of water and she could feel her life draining away with every gulp. Her outstretched hand says she’s not done yet, but her eyes were failing her, causing distorted images that she could not make out. A wave of memory surged through her. Every smile, every tear, she could now remember as clear as glass. But her time is up, her vision is nothing but an empty void.

Let go, it whispers.

She obeys as there are no options. Her hands found their way to her heart, fingers linked together, it rests there in a silent prayer. She shuts her gray eyes and let the currents take her away. Is this truly the end?
